Event narrative

Sustained winds of 30 to 38 mph were common near Sibley, with a few gusts up to around 45 mph.

Wider weather episode

An area of low pressure intensified lifting northward across Minnesota into southwestern Ontario and resulted in very strong winds across northwest Iowa which gusted as high as to 50 to 55 mph. Some limited moisture wrapped back southward with snowfall up to a few tenths of an inch at most.
