Event narrative

At the beginning of the month, the western half of the county was designated in Severe Drought (D2) with the eastern half in Moderate Drought (D1). Above normal precipitation from October 29th through November 7th brought some much needed precipitation to the area. The precipitation total at Rhinelander was 2.44 inches during this period. There was some improvement in the drought conditions across the eastern half of the county. By the end of the month, the northeast third of the county remained in Severe Drought (D2) with the remainder of the county in Moderate Drought (D1).

Wider weather episode

Drought that developed in September continued across northern Wisconsin into November. Above normal precipitation brought an end to the Severe Drought (D2) across portions of northern Wisconsin during the month, except across portions of Forest, Oneida and Vilas counties where Severe Drought (D2) continued through the end of the month.
