Drought — Maries, Missouri

2024-11-01 to 2024-11-30 · Maries, Missouri

Event narrative

A period of significant rains fell across the region early in the month with 3 to 5 inches of rainfall measured at some locations. This allowed for drought improvements to Moderate (D1) drought by the end of the month despite little or no rain fall through the last three weeks of the month. Impacts across the region occurred over larger scale agriculture which began during the summer when Moderate (D1) drought deteriorated to Extreme (D3) drought during the month of October. Farm and stock ponds saw impacts with ground water levels also falling. Crop and vegetation growth showed signs of stress due to limited moisture with some impacts to crop yield during the fall harvest. Crop loss estimates notated are for fall harvest loses from the summer into the fall.
