Overnight low temperatures fell to between -15 F and -20 F across southern Sioux County from 1/20 into 1/21, with daytime highs generally remaining under 0 F during the afternoon on 1/20. The cold temperatures combined with gusty winds resulted in a prolonged period of extreme wind chills under -30 F. Minimum observed wind chill values reached -37 F at the Agate RAWS sensor (3 miles ENE of Agate) at 4:13 AM MST on 1/21.
