Overnight low temperatures fell to between -10 F and -15 F across Cheyenne County from 1/20 into 1/21, with daytime highs generally remaining under 5 F during the afternoon on 1/20. The cold temperatures combined with gusty winds resulted in a prolonged period of extreme wind chills under -30 F. Minimum observed wind chill values reached -33 F at the Sidney Airport ASOS at 7:10 AM MST on 1/20.

A strong arctic front brought prolonged frigid temepratures to the Nebraska panhandle Friday, January 17 through the early morning of Tuesday, January 21. The coldest temperatures occured Sunday night and Monday night.
