2024-12-02 to 2024-12-04 · Potter, Pennsylvania
Event narrative
Lake effect snow bands produced 1 to 3 inches of snow across much of Potter County with amounts as high as 6 inches near Roulette.
Wider weather episode
A departing low pressure system moving off the eastern seaboard of the United States allowed for an extended period of northwesterly flow across central Pennsylvania, allowing for lake effect snow showers to drift into northwestern Pennsylvania from the evening hours of December 2, 2024 and continuing through the morning hours of December 4th, when a surface trough began to disrupt northwesterly flow and shut off the prolonged lake effect snow. The heaviest snowfall by the end of the event was confined to northwestern Warren County, with western portions of McKean County also receiving upwards of 8-10 inches of snowfall.
