Wider weather episode

A widespread winter storm (with heavy snowfall) impacted the Southern Plains on the 9th into early morning hours of the 10th. On the synoptic scale, a deep (closed) upper system lifted from northern Mexico into portions of the Southern Plains, leading to expanding areas of light to moderate precipitation during the day on the 9th. While surface temperatures sat a few degrees above freezing prior to snowfall (morning of the 9th), a combination of sub-freezing wet-bulb temperatures and occasionally heavy rates lead to widespread snowfall accumulation across the WFO Norman Forecast area.
