A triple point low from a Kamchatka low formed in the north Pacific in the evening hours of Saturday, December 28th. It quickly deepened and formed a core of storm force winds that moved over the Eastern Aleutian Islands and the Alaska Peninsula. Wind speeds gradually rose in the Eastern Aleutian Islands and peaked in the morning hours of Sunday, December 29th when the main core of winds was directly over the area. The Alaska Peninsula followed a similar trend, but winds peaked a couple hours later and reached even greater speeds, gusting to 60 - 70 mph for several hours before the low moved onshore.
