A potent clipper low pressure system impacted eastern New York late Wednesday, December 4 through Friday December 6, bringing widespread light to moderate and elevation-dependent, heavy snowfall; gusty winds; and lake effect snow. The heaviest snow fell in the Southwest Adirondacks and Eastern Catskills where upslope enhancement and lake effect snow bands contributed to moderate to heavy accumulations. Peak wind gusts throughout the region generally reached 35 to 45 mph with a peak gust of 48 mph in Ulster County.
