Event narrative
A total of 993 acres burned as a result of a wildfire in Ozark county near Gainesville. The fire originally started on March 14th however it reignited a few days later.
Wider weather episode
Gusty winds of 40-60mph occurred during the afternoon of March 14th. Afternoon relative humidity fell into the 10-20 percent range which led to extreme fire conditions. This led to power outages and numerous tree limbs down. Numerous grass and brush fires occurred due to the extreme fire behavior. A High Wind Warning was in effect for the area.
