A wind gust of 34 knots (39 MPH) was measured by the ASOS at Webster Field/Saint Inigoes (KNUI) adjacent to the tidal Potomac River.
Wider weather episode
A cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms crossed the tidal Potomac River resulting in gale- to storm-force wind gusts. Later that evening, squalls associated with a strong cold front resulted in a rapid onset of gale-force winds.
