Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough over the Mountain West traversed into the Great Plains February 10-12, causing large-scale synoptic lift and stratiform precipitation across the southern and central Plains. Two rounds of wintry precipitation occurred. The first occurred from February 10 through the morning of February 11, with no known impacts. The second, more impactful round occurred during the evening of February 11 through the morning of February 12. Light drizzle and freezing rain were reported across the Missouri Ozarks, with 0.12-0.20 inches of flat ice accumulation recorded at the ASOS sites at KUNO and KSGF before more widespread stratiform precipitation brought snow accumulations of 1 to 3.5 inches. Due to the slippery conditions, multiple slide-offs and accidents were reported along Interstate 44, and numerous schools were closed across the area.
