Brownsville ASOS recorded about 27 hours of wind chills at or below 30F degrees from 2:00am-10:50am on February 20th, from 7:15pm on February 20th to 9:55am on February 21st, and from 6:50am to 9:45am on February 22. A minimum wind chill temperature between 25-27F degrees occurred on February 20th. Harlingen ASOS recorded about 59 hours of wind chills at or below 30F degrees from 8:50pm-11:40am on February 19th and from 5:35pm on February 20th to 2:20pm on February 22nd. A minimum wind chill temperature between 20-21F degrees occurred on February 20th.

Behind the passage of a strong cold front, a cold air mass gripped and lingered over Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande valley resulting in freezing temperatures, locally extreme cold, and a third sea turtle cold-stunning event February 20-22, 2025. More than 175 sea turtles were stunned when the sea surface temperature of the lower Laguna Madre fell below 50 at several points during the period, as air temperatures hovered from the mid to upper 30s to lower 40s.
