Event narrative

Strong thunderstorm wind blew down a tree onto a camper on the east side of the Illinois River. Two occupants of the trailer were trapped. One of the two occupants died from injuries sustained in the event, and the other was rescued by first responders.

Wider weather episode

Strong to severe thunderstorms developed into eastern Oklahoma during the late evening of the 29th, ahead of an approaching cold front as a strong upper level disturbance translated into the Southern Plains. The combination of moderately strong instability and strong wind shear allowed the strongest storms to produce a tornado, and damaging wind gusts.
