Mesonet station XPQR at Poquoson River Light measured a gust to 45 knots (52 miles per hour).
Wider weather episode
A deep trough over the Midwest and surface low near the Great Lakes brought a robust cold front into the Mid Atlantic region. A strongly-forced area of linear convection moved from west to east across the Chesapeake Bay and nearby rivers and eventually impacted the Atlantic coastal waters.
