Event narrative
A tornado with estimated peak winds of 75 mph touched down south of E 500 North Road and just west of N 1000 East Road where minor roof damage occurred to farm outbuildings. The tornado moved northeast, crossed E 500 North Road and collapsed the roof of a large storage building. The tornado continued moving northeast across mainly fields and ended just west of Cissna Park.
Wider weather episode
Thunderstorms moved across much of northeast Illinois during the late morning and early afternoon hours of April 2nd producing heavy rain, localized flooding and localized wind damage. Additional thunderstorms moved across mainly east central Illinois in the mid to late afternoon, producing two tornadoes and isolated wind damage.
