Event narrative

Broadcast media reported the east facing wall of a grocery store, a metal building, was blown off to the east. This was consistent with wind speeds of 75 to 80 mph.

Wider weather episode

Thunderstorms formed near and behind a slow moving cold front as an upper trough worked its way through the Plains. Storms produced a combination of large hail and very intense damaging winds up to 85-90 mph. One person was killed in Ellis County when the RV he was in was blown over and rolled several times.
