Event narrative
Emergency manager reported damage to a single family one story residence on the northwest side of Waxahachie, with partial removal of roof and blown in garage door. This was consistent with wind speeds of 80 to 90 mph. Additional damage was also reported around the city.
Wider weather episode
Thunderstorms formed near and behind a slow moving cold front as an upper trough worked its way through the Plains. Storms produced a combination of large hail and very intense damaging winds up to 85-90 mph. One person was killed in Ellis County when the RV he was in was blown over and rolled several times.
