A tree fell on powerlines near the intersection of White Cross Rd and Crawford Dairy Rd north of Pittsboro.
Wider weather episode
A southward moving cold front out of the Ohio Valley to southern Mid-Atlantic region combined with a weak disturbance aloft to produce isolated to scattered showers and storms over central North Carolina in the late afternoon and evening. The strongest storms produced quarter to ping pong ball size hail over the western to eastern Piedmont. A few damaging wind reports were also observed.
