Wider weather episode

A vigorous storm system over the central Plains, with a sub 980mb surface low over Kansas, induced a very strong pressure gradient across west Kentucky. The result was strong south southeast winds through the afternoon and evening and into the early overnight hours. Gusts 35-45 mph were common throughout west Kentucky through the period. The strongest gusts, 40-45 mph, were focused along the Ohio River from Paducah to Henderson, and along the Tennessee border from Graves County through Trigg County. The strong winds blew a tree down across a road in Trigg County in the late evening.
