Event narrative

A trained spotter measured a 60 mph wind gust. Sustained winds were around 40 mph at the time. Minor window and tree damage was also reported as a result of the strong winds.

Wider weather episode

A pair of strong shortwave troughs moved from the Desert Southwest into the Plains Wednesday through Friday (March 12-14), generating isolated severe thunderstorms, strong non-thunderstorm winds and critical fire weather conditions across the region. A High Wind Warning was issued on March 14th for the northeastern half of the region.
