Winter Weather — Nance, Nebraska
2025-03-07 · Nance, Nebraska
Event narrative
Snowfall amounts generally ranged from 1 to 3 inches across the county.
Wider weather episode
A quick moving bout of generally light snow crossed the region during the overnight-early morning hours of the 7th, driven by an upper level shortwave disturbance embedded within the exit region of a larger-scale western U.S. trough. The brunt of snow spread south and east across the area between 2-7AM CST, eventually diminishing from west to east through late morning. The main area of surface low pressure slid east across northern Kansas, shifting winds from the east to the north with time, with gusts at times near 25 MPH. Temperatures at the surface and just aloft hovered right around the freezing mark, helping support a more wet-natured snow. Overall, this system blanketed only a trace to a few tenths of snow for areas along and south of Interstate 80, with the higher amounts of 2-4 inches falling north of Interstate 80, and especially along and north of Highway 92.
