A large tree was damaged in the Twin Lakes neighborhood on the northeast side of Springfield.

Wider weather episode

A cold front triggered a broken line of thunderstorms in the Illinois River Valley during the afternoon of June 8th. As the line progressed eastward, one cell became dominant as it tracked from Menard County across northern Sangamon County into southern Macon County. Minor tree damage and penny-sized hail was reported with the storm on the northeast side of Springfield.
