Sustained winds reached 40 to 43 mph at times at Dallas, 7 miles south-southwest of Gregory, and 16 miles north of Gregory with a gusts as high as 57 mph, and a gust as high as 61 mph at Fort Randall Dam.

Wider weather episode

Intense low pressure spread from the Central Plains early on March 14 to central Minnesota by the morning of March 15. Very strong winds developed on the back side of the system, with sustained winds from 30 to 43 mph and spotty gusts as high as 65 mph.
