Snowfall totaled 4.5 inches 4.1 miles south-southwest of Milroy and 2.1 miles southeast of Balaton, and 4.4 inches at Marshall.

Two upper level waves moved across the Central and Northern Plains April 1 and 2 with multiple rounds of rain, snow, or a rain/snow mix. Initial warm advective precipitation moved across southeast South Dakota and southwest Minnesota the morning of April 1, followed by a relative lull until more substantial wrap-around precipitation blossomed April 2 as a surface low pressure system lifted from the near the Nebraska/Kansas border into south-central Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The majority of precipitation along and south of I-90 was rain, but cooler temperatures farther north allowed for some snow accumulation with the highest amounts along the Highway 14 corridor. Two-day snowfall generally ranged from 2 to 6 inches.
