A comment on a social media post of a local weather facebook group confirmed one inch hail fell in Zachary along Blackwater Road just south of Greenwell Springs-Port Hudson Road.

On April 22nd, the same cold front from the previous day began retreating northward into northern Louisiana, placing the region back in the warm sector with unstable air. With dry air aloft and favorable mid-level lapse rates, a strong storm developed across the Florida Parishes during the afternoon. The storm produced severe hail near Zachary before gradually weakening as it moved southeast.
