Event narrative

Strong gradient winds with gusts measured up to around 40-50 mph occurred throughout the day, but an early gust of 90 mph was measured at at 12:15 AM by the Laurel Airport AWOS KLUL. Several trees were blown down across the county.

Wider weather episode

A line of severe storms pushed across the region and produced damaging wind gusts that downed trees and power lines, and damaged several structures. Ahead of the storms, strong gradient winds also produced damage to a similar degree. One such incident resulted in a fatality in Vicksburg where a woman succumbed to an injury after she was struck by a large tree limb.
