Event narrative

Strong thunderstorm winds knocked down trees and wires near the intersection of Eagle Valley Road and Dusenbery Road.

Wider weather episode

A stalled frontal boundary over the Finger Lakes region helped to trigger scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. Instability was modest yet supportive of effectiving mixing down of strong winds. There was also plenty of wind shear aloft. This allowed for a few storms to become strong to severe resulting in locally damaging winds and hail. It was determined that a microburst also occurred in Schuyler County.
