Wider weather episode
A broken line of thunderstorms moved southward across north GA during the evening hours of April 10th. Robust CAPE and shear enabled storms to become strong to severe. The main event of the day was the splitting of one of the embedded cells. Left moving northern cell moved across the northern metro, generating significant and prolonged hail ranging from 1 to 2.5 inches in size. The right moving cell moved southeast across the southern metro, causing some hail up to 1 inch and widespread wind damage down through Macon. Other areas which experience large hail included the Dade, Walker and Catoosa counties as well as the Dawson county area.
