Event narrative

A public report indicated considerable wind damage around the FM 917 and FM 2738 area near Lillian. Several trees were blown down, sheds damaged, and an RV was turned on its side.

Wider weather episode

A Northern Plains low pressure system, a northeast-to-southwest oriented stationary front across North Texas, and shortwave trough traversing the Texas Panhandle were all contributing factors to the development of widespread severe weather May 16 and 17. A highly unstable environment led to many instances of large hail and damaging winds.
