Event narrative
The VERNON HILL mesonet station recorded an initial strong wind gust of 59 mph at 3:30 pm MST, followed by a subsequent wind gust of 59 mph at 4:15 pm MST, with sustained winds in excess of 50 mph between those gusts. These wind gusts were the result of outflow winds associated with a nearby cluster of showers and thunderstorms moving through the area.

Isolated to scattered convection in an environment characterized by fairly dry subcloud layers and associated high DCAPE values ahead of an approaching cold front resulted in isolated microburst winds.
