Social media reports showed numerous trees were blown down across Bridgeport and surrounding areas. It was reported 20 large trees were blown down at the Bridgeport Country Club.

Wider weather episode

A Northern Plains low pressure system, a northeast-to-southwest oriented stationary front across North Texas, and shortwave trough traversing the Texas Panhandle were all contributing factors to the development of widespread severe weather May 16 and 17. A highly unstable environment led to many instances of large hail and damaging winds.
