Event narrative

An extended period of gusty winds reached speeds as high as 58 mph at Magnolia.

Wider weather episode

A strong wake low developed beneath the stratiform area of a large convective complex across northwest Iowa, far southeast South Dakota, and southwest Minnesota. Winds commonly reached 60 to 72 mph and brought down numerous large limbs, powerlines, and damaged several buildings.
