An upper level weather disturbance moved across the region late in the evening on August 2nd through the early morning hours of August 3rd. This, combined with sufficient instability and wind shear, brought severe thunderstorms to the combined Panhandles. These storms moved in from Kansas and brought hail and damaging winds to the region. The most significant of the severe storms moved through portions of the north central Texas Panhandle, where radar estimates and associated damage from straight line winds were estimated to have reached 90 to 100mph in portions of Moore and Hutchinson counties.
