Event narrative

Large tree fell across and blocked Highway 21 and I-20 on-ramp. Numerous snapped large branches and small trees down along Highway 21 south of I-77.

A unique synoptic setup with northeast flow around an offshore upper level low pressure system produced widespread damaging winds across the Midlands of SC. High instability peaked in the afternoon and dry air aloft were ideal conditions for organized downbursts and microbursts during the evening.
