Around 4PM CST on the 21st, three swimmers in distress were rescued by emergency crews at West Beach.

Strong winds on the 21st generated high waves and deadly currents on southern Lake Michigan beaches, resulting in several water rescues. The Michigan City C-MAN station was regularly reporting wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph during the afternoon out of the south.
