Drought — Cedar, Nebraska

2025-06-01 to 2025-06-30 · Cedar, Nebraska

Event narrative

D2 (severe) drought conditions in the far southwest corner of the county improved to D1 (moderate) drought through the month with rainfall amounts 1 to 3 inches above average.

Wider weather episode

Severe (D2) to extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted across portions of eastern Nebraska through the month of June. However, significant rainfall, with amounts ranging from 2 to locally 8 inches above average, fell in parts of northeast Nebraska that were previously experiencing extreme drought. This precipitation led to a substantial improvement, with the entire extreme drought area upgrading to moderate (D1) drought by July 1st. Despite this improvement, small pockets of severe drought (D2) still lingered in Knox, Butler, and Seward counties.
