Hail as big as a quarter, but most was pea to nickel size.
Wider weather episode
Thunderstorms developed along a stout outflow boundary, which dropped southward into the area through the day. The boundary served as a gradient in shear and instability, and focused initial development during the afternoon hours, which featured hail up to golf ball size. Storms evolved to produce a couple tracks of damaging wind heading southeast across northeast Nebraska and northwest Iowa into very early evening.
