A peak non-thunderstorm wind gust of 67 mph was observed by the South Dakota State University mesonet station 12 miles south of Vivian.

Scattered thunderstorms produced isolated strong winds and damage across central and north-central South Dakota during the evening of July 14th. A collapsing storm produced 82 mph winds measured by the Pierre Regional Airport Automated Surface Observing System, resulting in tree and vehicle damage on the east side of town. Another storm west of Onida would go on to topple multiple powerlines with an estimated 100 mph wind gust. Multiple reports of wind gusts of 50 to 70 mph were observed through the evening and overnight hours. As the thunderstorms departed, a second round of strong, non-thunderstorm winds followed the system overnight into July 15th.
