Penny size hail begin at 2343 CST on July 2 and increased to half dollar size hail from 2344 to 2345 CST before diminishing in size.
Wider weather episode
Elevated wind profiles allowed for around 30 knots of deep-layer effective shear with strong warm air advection present ahead of the upper ridge axis. Isolated storms fired along the elevated frontal zone and organized enough briefly to produce large hail.
