Chatham County Emergency Management reported that lightning struck an apartment complex in the 10000 block of White Bluff Road and started a fire.

Wider weather episode

Numerous clusters of thunderstorms developed across interior southeast Georgia starting in the early afternoon hours. These storms steadily progressed eastward through the late afternoon producing damaging wind gusts and frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes.
