Chatham County Emergency Management reported that lightning struck a power pole in the 5200 block of Franklin Street.

Wider weather episode

Numerous clusters of thunderstorms developed across interior southeast Georgia starting in the early afternoon hours. These storms steadily progressed eastward through the late afternoon producing damaging wind gusts and frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes.
