Event narrative

A cold front crossing southwestern Pennsylvania during the afternoon was producing a line of showers with gusts between 35mph and 45mph at times along the frontal boundary. As the front was crossing southern Allegheny County, a tree fell onto utility lines which caused a utility pole to fall as well. The tree and utility pole both fell on a middle-aged woman and 2 of her children while leaving a soccer game at Evans Field in South Park, PA (LAT/LON: 40.281/-79.994). The children were not harmed but the mother suffered three fractured vertebrate which required rods and screws to be placed in her back. Based on radar, this likely occurred shortly before 1500EST based off of radar data. Estimated wind gusts would have been sub-severe based on upstream observations, between 35 mph and 40 mph. There were no other reports of downed trees or powerlines in the vicinity of the incident.
