A maximum tide level of 8.46 ft MLLW (2.70 ft MHHW) was observed at the Charleston Harbor tide gage. Major coastal flooding typically begins along the coasts of Charleston and Colleton counties when tide levels reach 8.0 FT MLLW (2.24 ft MHHW) in the Charleston Harbor.

Strong northeast winds resulting from high pressure inland and developing low pressure offshore along with astronomical influences associated with a recent full moon and perigee led to coastal flooding along coastal Southeast South Carolina.
