Low pressure approached from the west through the early morning hours of the 16th...while a secondary low developed across the Gulf of Maine. The Gulf of Maine low became the dominant system...intensifying while tracking along the Downeast coast through the 16th. The low continued to intensify while lifting across New Brunswick to the Gulf of Saint Lawrence through the night of the 16th into the 17th. Snow expanded across the region through the morning of the 16th...persisting through the afternoon into the evening. Snow diminished across Downeast areas through the early morning hours of the 17th. Wrap-around snow persisted across northern areas through the morning of the 17th. Warning criteria snow accumulations occurred during the early morning hours of the 17th. Storm total snow accumulations generally ranged from 6 to 9 inches across much of northern Aroostook county...with local totals up to around 10 inches. The heaviest snow accumulations generally occurred across northeast Aroostook county. Snow accumulations in a corridor from northern Somerset....across northern and central portions of Penobscot...to southeast Aroostook counties generally ranged from 3 to 6 inches.
