Light to moderate snow overspread the Alleghenies through the afternoon of December 13 as low pressure moved south of the area. Through the evening, light to moderate snow overspread portions of central and northern Maryland. Steady snow continued into the night. Upslope snow showers continued through the day of December 14th across western Maryland. Across western Maryland, winds gusted to 45 mph resulting in significant blowing and drifting of snow. The highest totals of 8 to 14 inches were observed across Garrett County. Far western Allegany County received 4 to 6 inches. Further east, a general 3 to 5 inches was observed from Frederick County into northwest Montgomery up to Cecil County. A few localized 6 inch reports were observed. Further south across the northern and eastern DC suburbs, a general 1 to 3 inches was observed.
