Coastal Flood — Coastal Volusia County, Florida
2025-10-10 to 2025-10-12 · Coastal Volusia County, Florida
Event narrative
A strong coastal low developed offshore from the Southeast US along a stalled boundary draped across the central Florida peninsula. The tight pressure gradient resulted in several days of strong and gusty onshore flow. These winds combined with high astronomical tides to produce water levels 1.5 to 2.0 feet above the predicted astronomical tides during 5 high tide cycles. Water levels measured at the Trident Pier CMAN at Port Canaveral peaked at around 6.8 feet MLLW around 900 LST on October 10. Minor to locally moderate coastal flooding and beach erosion occurred at several beachfront locations, mainly during high tide. The wooden walkway to the Ponce Inlet jetty was destroyed. Also, the high water levels contributed to drainage issues for several towns when locally heavy rainfall occurred.
Wider weather episode
Locally heavy rainfall entered several homes in Volusia County, causing minor damage, and led to road closures in Palm Bay in Brevard County, while high astronomical tides and coastal flooding led to damage at the shoreline.
