Winter Storm — Kandiyohi, Minnesota

2025-11-25 to 2025-11-26 · Kandiyohi, Minnesota

Event narrative

A combination of heavy snow and strong winds impacted the county Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. Snowfall amounts around 2 to 4 inches were estimated across the northern portion of the county, and wind gusts around 30 to 40 mph were measured throughout the event at Willmar Municipal Airport. A longer period of rain before the transition to snow limited amounts across the southern portion of the county.

Wider weather episode

A strong low pressure produced a late fall system that brought a round of rain and heavy snow, as well as very gusty winds to the Upper Midwest. The combination of heavy falling snow and northwest winds gusting to around 40 to 50 mph resulted in significant travel impacts, especially across western and central Minnesota where the strongest winds overlapped with falling snow.

The greatest snowfall amounts generally were reported along and north of the I-94 corridor, topping out around 5 to 9 inches.

The top snowfall reports were:

9.5 inches near Camp Ripley, MN (Morrison).

8.1 inches in Bertha, MN (Todd).

8.0 inches southwest of Vineland, MN (Morrison).

7.2 inches in Long Prairie, MN (Todd).

7.1 inches near Bock, MN (Mille Lacs).

7.0 inches in Carlos, MN (Douglas).

7.0 inches in Little Falls, MN (Morrison).
