This significant winter storm brought between 6 and 9 inches of snow to Olmsted County between November 28th and November 30th. The highest snowfall report in the county was 8.9 inches 3 miles west-southwest of Chester. Additionally, two vehicle accidents occurred in the county during the storm that resulted in a total of 2 non-life threatening injuries.

Wider weather episode

A significant and prolonged winter storm moved into the region late on November 28th, bringing moderate snow for a roughly 36 hour period before exiting the region by the early morning hours on November 30th. This storm was particularly impactful as it occurred right after Thanksgiving resulting in extra difficulties for holiday travel. Overall, the storm brought snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 inches across much of southeast Minnesota.
