A significant lake effect snowstorm occurred for Racine and Kenosha when a polar air mass flowed over the relatively warm waters of Lake MI, producing 2-3 inch per hour snowfall rates. Total snow accumulations ranged from 8-13 inches. A school was closed for the day, and the heavy snow accumulation significantly slowed or prevented travel.
